New photos, website and more!

As you can see, we have been rather neglecting our blog of late! We are a small team at Baroque In The North and have been really busy behind the scenes as well as up front where you can see us. And the results of our various labours are now in play – we are super excited to share our latest publicity photo from the hugely talented Paul Husband. Paul has spent much of his career photographing celebrities from the Manchester pop scene and brings a true artistic freshness to his work. He created our Music For French Kings album cover too and we really love his work. Paul always manages to convey the character of his subjects so have a look at our publicity photo and see what you think!

We have also been working closely with the amazing designers at Opera PR and Communications on the creation of our NEW website. Opera PR is based in Baslow, Derbyshire – home to more than one of our Baroque & Beyond events – and they were great at translating our (often-vague thoughts!) into excellent design and copy. We hope you love the results as much as we do.

As always, we couldn’t do anything without our excellent and generous team of Trustees who too often go unnoticed. Our fantastic chair – Karen Humphreys MBE – stepped down at the end of July, and it seemed a good time to expand our board to reflect the growth of Baroque In The North. Karen will be much missed but we are thrilled to welcome three new Trustees all of whom bring a wealth of experience across the fields of performance, early music and education.

And finally (of course) the events! We are looking forward to returning to Leeds Cathedral next week to perform Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the excellent Senior Girls Choir. And on the 24th September we will finally hold our Baroque & Beyond event in Fence, Lancashire. We had to cancel this twice last March thanks to Covid and are really grateful to those on the ground in Fence who have been very patient and helpful in the rescheduling of the event there. As always, there will be an hour of music followed by tea and cake (included in the ticket price) and the chance to chat to each other and the performers. See our events page for details of how to book for this event. We look forward to seeing you soon!
