Chamber music for musette(s), harpsichord, baroque cello and baroque flute.
We are SO excited to be able to share with you our second album! Recorded in Manchester, in July 2025, we have been working with Chiaro Audio and First Hand Records to deliver the best possible experience for our listeners, remaining true to our search for authenticity and originality. And we were so happy to work again with the amazingly talented Paul Husband on the album cover.
Friends in High Places showcases the musette’s unique sound world and virtuosity in combination with baroque flute, baroque cello and harpsichord. Trio sonatas for flute, musette and basso continuo are contrasted with delicate works for solo flute. Dupuit’s mad writing for harpsichord and musette (expect crossing hands and lines of rapid notes) is balanced by Charpentier’s simple flowing dance music for musette and cello. And there are even a couple of works for two musettes! All works are recorded here for the first time. The album will be released on 21 August and will be available in CD and MP3 formats as well as across the usual streaming platforms.
And if you would like a little preview, keep an eye on our social media as we will be releasing singles from 7 June!
This project would never have been possible without the huge support and encouragement of our audiences, our crowdfunder backers, and our funders, Continuo Foundation and Angel Early Music and a grant from the RNCM internal research fund.
