We are living in strange times, and for organisations that exist for the purpose of bringing people together to share their enjoyment of music the present conditions feel rather like limbo.
However, rest assured we at Baroque In The North are not sitting on our hands or twiddling our thumbs or fulfilling any other hand-related metaphors. We have been keeping busy by applying for funding for projects and tweaking our development plans to suit whatever the future of music-making looks like. We want to be ready to go with concerts, workshops and Come and Play Days as soon as we can.
Without events our social media feed is at risk of grinding to a halt and so we have been sharing insights into what our Artistic Director, Amanda, is up to during lockdown. #travelswithmymusette wasn’t going anywhere (get it?!) so she came up with #stayathomemusette and has been exploring the repertoire for this amazing instrument.
Who knows, perhaps it will come to a platform (virtual or physical) near you soon…keep watching this space! And if you want to know more about musette have a listen to this show that Amanda did recently for Resonance fm:
